General Info

Tucked away in Nara, Yakiniku Fumiya feels like one of those places you stumble upon once and keep coming back to. The location is easy enough to find, yet it still has that low-key, local vibe that makes the whole dining experience feel personal and unpretentious.

Walking in, the atmosphere immediately stands out. It’s a smoke-free place, which is honestly a big plus for a yakiniku restaurant. You still get that rich grilled aroma without it clinging to your clothes. The space is comfortable and works well whether you’re dining solo or coming in with a group. There’s also a wheelchair accessible parking lot, making it a thoughtful choice for a wide range of guests.

Now, let’s talk about the menu, because that’s where Yakiniku Fumiya really shines. The 和牛上タン (premium wagyu beef tongue) is easily one of the highlights. It’s tender, flavorful, and grills beautifully right at your table. Pair that with a cold beer, and you’ve already got a solid start to dinner. Another standout is the ヘレ (fillet), which is incredibly soft and rich without being overwhelming.

If you’re looking to explore beyond the usual cuts, the 生センマイ (fresh omasum) adds a refreshing contrast. It’s light, slightly chewy, and pairs nicely with dipping sauces. Then there’s the 冷麺 特大 (extra-large cold noodles), which is perfect for sharing. It’s cooling, satisfying, and balances out the richness of the grilled meats. On the side, the キムチ&ナムル bring that essential Korean-inspired touch-crisp, tangy, and just spicy enough to keep things interesting.

What makes the overall experience feel genuine is how everything comes together. The pacing of dinner feels natural, and the staff keeps things running smoothly without being intrusive. You can take your time grilling, chatting, and enjoying each dish at your own rhythm.

From a reviewer’s perspective, this is the kind of restaurant that doesn’t try too hard-it just delivers consistently good food and a comfortable environment. If you’re browsing reviews or planning your next dinner spot in Nara, Yakiniku Fumiya is definitely worth adding to your list.

What customers say?

“ I went there for the first time in a while. I enjoyed everything from salted tongue, red meat, and horumon to namul, salad, and ramen for the final course. It's been so long since I last went that I forgot to take pictures (lol). ”

“ My review: This is the best Wagyu yakiniku (grilled beef) I've ever had in Japan! It was getting late when we arrived in Nara, so we just wanted something quick and easy. We walked into a yakiniku restaurant near Nara JR station. The owners were incredibly welcoming; they seemed like typical, boisterous Kansai people, haha. When they heard we were from Shanghai, they greeted us warmly, saying they'd just visited Shanghai last month and loved it! We ordered a premium beef tongue, a premium beef brisket, and a premium diaphragm. The prices were all very reasonable, and the owner even mentioned that these cuts had recently gone on sale. The beef was absolutely top-quality! The fat melted in your mouth, like butter, incredibly tender and flavorful—it was amazing! There weren't many people there when we arrived, so we received exceptionally attentive service from the owners. Highly recommended! ”

“ The quality of the meat was excellent, and the skirt steak in particular was surprisingly tender and juicy. The side dishes, such as choregi salad and egg soup, were also delicious. It was clear that each dish was carefully prepared, and this is a restaurant that I would honestly like to return to! Thank you for the meal. ”

“ You can eat delicious, extremely fresh meat at a reasonable price. Everything is excellent, but the skirt steak was by far the best I've ever eaten. The staff were also very friendly, and it became one of the best memories of my trip to Nara. The drinks are not expensive at all. They offer such high-quality meat at a reasonable price, and I'd like to return next time I'm in Nara. ”

“ The sashimi was fresh and the meat had a refined fat that made it delicious. I'd love to eat the heart sashimi again. ”

“ This was the best yakiniku I've had in the Nara area. The food wasn't overly salty, and they gave me the sauce on the side, so I could adjust it myself. The meat was tender and fresh. The kimchi and bean sprouts served as sides were delicious. Finishing off with a bowl of Shin Ramyun made me feel like I was grilling meat in Korea. I'd definitely visit again. ”

“ Japanese menus only but don’t be disheartened. Staff communicated with us using phone translation, asked what our budget was, asked which organ meats we prefer, and agreed on a 5000Y set menu. We trusted the process and we were very pleased. Delicious and filling. Staff were very lovely and helpful in catering us. ”

“ Our family (2 adults and 2 children 17 and 12) - visiting Japan for the first time - were there yesterday and it was such a great encounter. The couple owning the place is so kind. We felt welcome from the first moment until the last second. Very typical and local restaurant, only in Japanese but do not worry We exchanged perfectly thanks to google translate. The food was delicious and they even took time to explain what was in the plates. Highlight of our trip. Thank you so much dear “Yakiniku fumiya”!!! ”
